14. Japanese Maple

Keep going on the dirt trail. Look to the left at the Helen Lee Baker bench. Japanese maple is a striking plant with an intricate structure and rich leaf colors throughout the year. Japanese maple grows well in partly shaded locations with moist soils and moderate summer temperatures. Many varieties of the species exist with differences in leaf shape and fall colors.
